Mammoth Lakes, CA – Travel troubles and weather conditions have made numerous changes to the USCSA National Championships in the past few days, but the Clarkson University Nordic Ski team and the rest of the field have been able to participate the last two days, with Conner Roberts gaining a podium spot on Tuesday in the 7.5K Classic.

On Tuesday, the Golden Knights' men finished third out of 12 teams with 25 points for a podium spot, and on Wednesday they ended up in fifth place among 12 teams with 53 points in the 1.5K Skate Sprint. Clarkson's women took seventh among 11 squads with 70 points on Tuesday, and the Green and Gold were eighth out of 11 teams on Wednesday.

The best finish of the first two days came from Roberts in the 7.5K Classic when he took the runner-up position with a time of 25:39.3, a little over 30 seconds behind the top spot and close to 20 seconds ahead of the third finisher. Joey Rouhana was 10th overall in 27:26.8 and Kai Richer finished off the Clarkson team score by placing 14th with a time of 27:59.8. Clarkson had three other skiers in the bottom half of the 60 participants, as Noah Payne came in 39th (30:48.2), Cameron Bancroft was 42nd (31:10.1), and Hunter Krebs finished 44th (31:32.7).

On Wednesday, none of the Clarkson skiers were able to reach the sprint finals, but five made it to the quarterfinals. Kai Richter was the top finisher, coming in 13th, and he was followed by Roberts in 19th and Bancroft in 21st to round out Clarkson's team score of 53 points. Payne was also in the quarterfinals and ended up in 28th overall, and Rouhana took 30th overall. Hunter Krebs did not qualify for the quarters, and placed 51st of 61 competitors.

For the women, Ava Schieffert just missed out on the podium on Tuesday, coming in fifth out of 38 skiers in the 7.5K Classic with a time of 32:58.9, roughly 30 seconds short of third. Lillian Magnus was next for the Knights, taking 27th in 38:50.3, and Ava Frost came in 38th in 1:08:32.9. Like the men, Clarkson's female skiers were short of the finals in the 1.5K Skate Sprint, but two participated in the quarterfinals. Ava Schieffert took 14th overall and Magnus was 24th in the field. Frost was further down the list in 47th.
