After tensions ran high between the Golden Knights and the Union Garnet Chargers, the Golden Knights came out on top of the Garnet Chargers 4-1.
The 1st period went scoreless with the Golden Knights outshooting the Garnet Chargers 25-9.
In the 2nd period the Golden Knights found the net on back to back goals with a 3rd coming just 2 minutes later. All three of which were each players' first of the season.
The first of the three came at 4:21 into the 2nd, with
Erik Bargholtz scoring the first of the game with assists from
Caden Lewandowski and
Kaelan Taylor. For Lewandoski, it was his first point as a Golden Knight. The Golden Knights jumped out to a 2-0 lead just 41 seconds later, when
George Grannis would bury a rebound from
Jesse Tuckers shot.
The Knights would jump out to a 3-0 lead at 7:55 into the 2nd period, when
Eric Ciccolini scored his first goal of the season and first as a Golden Knight.
At the end of the 2nd period there was a tussle in behind the Knights net, and after several reviews, the officials handed out penalties to
Ayrton Martino and
Dustyn McFaul of the Golden Knights along with Nick Young and John Prokop of the Garnet Chargers.
3:26 into the 3rd period the Chargers scored a goal of their own, coming from Chaz Smedsrud being assisted by John Prokop and Caden Villegas. The Golden Knights would put the game away when
Eric Ciccolini would score his second goal of the game on an empty net, extending the lead to 4-1.
Austin Roden finished the night with 28 saves. Clarkson was 0 for 5 on the power play while allowing 1 goal on 3 chances for Union.
With the win the Knights move up to 4-5. Next, the Golden Knights they will head to Providence, RI to take on Brown.
