CU Nordic Relays Finish First and Second at Mansfield Divisional Race

Breadloaf, VT – For the second straight weekend, the Clarkson University Nordic Ski team's men won a relay event as the Golden Knights competed in the Mansfield Divisionals on Saturday at the Rikert Nordic Center.

The Golden Knights' top men's team took first place among 19 squads overall, while its two other teams were sixth and 16th, respectively. Clarkson's top women's team was just off the mark for top honors, taking second out of 14 squads, and its second entrant in the event was 13th overall. Sunday's Mansfield Divisionals event will be the 15K Classic.

Clarkson's trio of Conner Roberts, Simon Zehr, and Cameron Bancroft outdid the rest of the field by at least 20 seconds, winning the 1.4K Sprint Relay in 31 minutes, 12 seconds (each skier completed the loop three times for the complete time). The next Clarkson group, consisting of Thomas Robinson, Noah Payne, and Hunter Krebs was the fastest 'B' team in the field, closing out the event in 33:24. Clarkson's group of Eric Nowak, Derek Ferreira, and Konrad Kremzner crossed the finish line with a time of 40:51.

Back at full strength, Clarkson's top women's team finished 35 seconds off the pace in the Sprint Relay, as Melissa Brown, Lillian Magnus, and Ava Schieffert rounded the loop for a combined time of 39:27. Clarkson's second trio of Gabriella Broga, Gianna Capoccia, and Hannah Yorkey finished the event in 54:55.
