Bomberger Shoots One-Over on First Day of Liberty League Fall Classic

Potsdam, NY - Freshman Brant Bomberger was one-under on the back nine with three birdies to finish with a 73 for the Clarkson University Golf team as the Golden Knights hosted the Liberty League Fall Classic at the par-72, 6616-yard Potsdam Town & Country Club on Saturday.

Through day one of the tournament, the Golden Knights sit in fourth place among five teams with a score of 313, trailing Rensselaer (287), Skidmore (297), St. Lawrence (300), and ahead of Hobart (327). Bomberger was one of three teams' number-five golfers to excel on Saturday. Rodrigo Muelas of Rensselaer leads the field at the midway point after shooting a four-under 68, and Wesley Blevins of St. Lawrence is second as he was two-under.

Bomberger is tied for fourth (among 30 golfers) at the halfway point with his 73, shooting 38 on the front and 35 on the back, as all three of his birdies came in the final seven holes. Dale Turner was next for Clarkson, shooting 78 with a 40 on the front and 38 on the back. He scored a birdie on the fifth hole and then knocked in birdies on the par-three 11th hole and the par-four 18th hole, tying him for 16th at the midway point. Aaron Walsh, playing as an individual for the Knights, also shot 78 with 39 on both the front and the back, scoring 13 pars along the way. Andrew Palmatier and Zander Poole each scored 81 to tie for 22nd. Palmatier had birdies on number-nine and number-17, both par-fours. Poole picked up birdies on the par-five number-10 and then also picked one up on the 13th hole, a par-four. Casey Ditzel ended up outside the team scoring, shooting 82 with 10 pars, putting him in a tie for 24th through 18 holes.
