CU Nordic Team Splits Squad to Compete in Lake Placid and Vermont

Simon Zehr and Conner Roberts each finished in the top 100 as the Clarkson University Nordic Ski team had a day of split-squad events at the Supertour in Lake Placid as well as competitors at the Vermont Invitational.

A handful of skiers went to Lake Placid to compete in a sprint event. None of the Golden Knights advanced to the quarterfinals as the races included just under 400 total skiers. Simon Zehr was Clarkson's top finisher, placing 82nd out of 199 skiers with a time of 3 minutes, 41.34 seconds. Conner Roberts was two spots behind Zehr in 84th with a time of 3:41.72 and further down the list was Hunter Krebs, who took 158th in 4:16.61. For the women, Ava Schieffert was 120th among 170 skiers with a time of 4:56.87 and Lillian Magnus took 150th in 5:21.96.

Over in Vermont at the Spike Clayton Memorial Invite, the Golden Knights' team scores suffered with several of the top skiers competing at Lake Placid. Clarkson's men finished sixth among six teams and the Clarkson women placed fifth among five teams.

Cameron Bancroft performed well in the 10K Classic race, placing fourth among the 49 participants with a time of 32 minutes, 8 seconds. The next Clarkson skier to cross the finish line was Thomas Robinson, who took 22nd in 36:06.0. The team scoring was closed out when Konrad Kremzner came in 37th in 41:06.0.

For the women, Melissa Brown came in ninth in a field of 39 with a time of 41:47.0. Hannah Yorkey saw her name move further up the leaderboard as she placed 18th in 45:46.4 and Gianna Capoccia took 29th in 50:23.0 to finish off Clarkson's point total.
