CU Women's Lacrosse Preview - vs. SUNY Canton (3/18)

With four straight wins against SUNY Canton, the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team will look to extend its streak after a one-year absence in the series when the Golden Knights face the Kangaroos on Thursday evening at Hantz Field.

The Series: The Golden Knights are 6-2 all-time against SUNY Canton, having won four straight meetings from 2016 through the 2019 season. None of those games were ever really in doubt, as Clarkson has averaged 10.5 goals per game margin of victory.

Key Stats for Clarkson (0-1): The Golden Knights will look to get their offense going after a slow start against nationally-ranked St. John Fisher last week. Junior Sydney Roderick is one point shy of becoming the 19th member of Clarkson's 100-point club, as she enters the contest with 37 goals and 62 assists in 24 career games. In her lone outing against the Kangaroos as a freshman, Roderick tallied five points on two goals and three assists. Natalie Farnett has also played well against SUNY Canton, recording three goals and an assist in two career games versus the Roos. Clarkson's defense has kept Canton in check in recent years, allowing just 3.75 goals per game from 2016-2019.

Key Stats for SUNY Canton (0-0): The Kangaroos were winless in three games at the start of the 2020 season, but two of those games were decided by three goals or fewer and Canton's offense averaged 11 goals per contest. Canton lost two of their top three scorers to graduation, but does return junior Samantha Dayter, who led the team in goals (9), points (16), and draw controls (15) while tying for second in groundballs (7). Senior Erin Parks also scored five goals in the first three games last season.
