Schieffert and Giraldi Again Lead Knights at NCAA Ski Championships

Jackson, NH – For the second time in three days, senior Michael Giraldi and sophomore Ava Schieffert were the top finishers for the Clarkson University Nordic Ski team competing at the 2021 NCAA Skiing Championships held at the Jackson Nordic Center on Saturday.

The Golden Knights' men placed in a tie for 13th among 14 teams while the women were also 13th out of 14 squads, competing against NCAA Division I competition.

The women were the first event of the day, racing on the 15K Freestyle course. Ava Schieffert crossed the finish line first for the Knights, coming in 38th out of 40 skiers with a time of 52 minutes, 32.8 seconds. Freshman Lillian Magnus was the next spot, closing out her run in 57:43.3, and Elise Paquette followed Magnus with a time of 59:07.3.

On Thursday, Giraldi came in 33rd, the best performance of the weekend for Clarkson, and on Saturday afternoon he took 35th among the 40 entrants on the 20K Freestyle course, ending the race in 56:43.7. Sophomore Conner Roberts was the next finisher for Clarkson, coming in 37th in 57:43.3, and senior Michael Salo took in 38th in 59:44.8.
