Giraldi Headlines Golden Knights at 2021 NCAA Ski Championships Second Day

Jackson, NH – Senior Michael Giraldi and sophomore Ava Schieffert highlighted the Clarkson University Nordic Ski team's performance Thursday at the 2021 NCAA Skiing Championships held at the Jackson Nordic Center.

The Golden Knights' men placed in a tie for 13th among 14 teams while the women were 14th out of 14 squads, competing against NCAA Division I competition.

Giraldi was the top finisher for the Golden Knights, placing 33rd out of 40 entrants in the 10K Classic race, crossing the line with a time of 30 minutes, 26.9 seconds. Sophomore Conner Roberts was 36th in 31:01.7 and senior Michael Salo came in 39th in 32:24.4.

The women were the second event of the day as Ava Schieffert raced to a 38th-place finish in the 5K Classic with a time of 22:24.6. Freshman Lillian Magnus was one spot lower in 24:34.8 and Elise Paquette followed Magnus with a time of 25:34.5.

Each trio will be back in action on Saturday, with the women competing in the 15K Freestyle at 10:00 am and the men racing in the 20K Freestyle starting at 12:00 noon.
