CU Women's Lacrosse Preview - vs. SUNY Canton (3/26)

With eyes on returning to .500 before getting back to Liberty League play, the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team will host SUNY Canton on Tuesday afternoon at Hantz Turf Field.

The Series: The Green and Gold hold a 5-2 record against the Kangaroos since the rivalry began back in 2012. Clarkson has won the last three games by a combined score of 42-9, including a 13-5 victory in 2018.

Key Stats for Clarkson (3-4): Every player that scored a point against the Roos last year is back for the Golden Knights in 2019. Jaid Baytos picked up four points and five draw controls in last year's win, but it is junior Emma Andrews who has enjoyed the most success against SUNY Canton. In two career games she has 11 points, with six goals and five assists. Katie Sergeant has the most goals versus the Roos with seven, including five during her freshman year. Though she is still several tallies away from the mark, it's time to start paying close attention to Sergeant's game-by-game scoring output as she nears 100 career points. Her 17 points this year rank her third on the team, giving her 93 for her career.

Key Stats for SUNY Canton (6-1): Just like the Knights' Saturday opponent, Bard College, it's tough to determine how much of the Kangaroos' record is from legitimate improvement or a soft schedule to open the year. Canton does have six wins in seven games, but the teams it has beaten are a combined 8-25 and none has more than two wins. The Roos are dominating their opponents to the tune of a 110-40 scoring advantage while more than doubling up the opposition in shots (212-102) and shots on goal (167-75). Molly Denny leads the team with 33 points on 22 goals and 11 assists while MaryClare Bowes has 32 points on 22 goals and 10 assists.
