Men's Soccer | 12/3/2019 11:56:00 AM

Thanks to an outstanding career on the pitch and in the classroom, senior John Furcick of the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team was named a CoSIDA Academic All-American, earning First-Team honors, one of only 11 players chosen nationally in Division III.

Furcick was one of only two Golden Knights' men's soccer players to achieve CoSIDA Academic All-District honors on three occasions a few weeks ago, and now he becomes only the third member of that program to earn CoSIDA Academic All-American First-Team honors, joining Michael Secko (1999) and Matt St. Onge (1995). It marks the second straight year that Furcick was named an Academic All-American, as he was picked for Second-Team honors last year. This is also the ninth time in the past decade that any Clarkson student-athlete has achieved CoSIDA Academic All-American First-Team honors in any sport.

Furcick, who helped lead the Golden Knights to the Liberty League title game three weeks ago, is a double-major with a 3.97 grade-point average while studying Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering. Furcick served as a key component in both Clarkson's defensive and offensive efforts for the past four years and scored four points on a goal and two assists in 18 games in 2019, which included nine starting nods.
