CU Women's Lacrosse Preview - at SUNY Cortland (3/3)

Winners in the season-opener, the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team will face its second SUNYAC opponent in three days, this time challenging by 17th-ranked SUNY Cortland in the Red Dragons' first game of the campaign.

Live Stats/Live Video

The Series: Cortland has won all four games in the all-time series, though two of the contests occurred more than three decades ago. In the renewed rivalry that began two years ago, the Red Dragons have won by a combined score of 32-10.

Key Stats for Clarkson (1-0): It is early, but the Golden Knights enjoyed a diverse offensive showing in the first game of the season with four different players scoring at least two goals and seven players contributing to the scoresheet. Taylor Collins filled up her stat line with five points on four goals and an assist while adding five groundballs and six draw controls. The senior stands just 12 points shy of becoming the 15th player in program history to reach the century mark in points. Jaid Baytos and Abby Collins each recorded three goals in the opener, and Marisa Clark added a goal and three assists.

Key Stats for SUNY Cortland (0-0): Although the Red Dragons lost some key players on offense and defense, Cortland still has plenty of options to make it a contender in the SUNYAC. Junior Carly Stone is the team's top returning scorer, tallying 50 points (42-8-50), while sophomore Lexie Meager produced 47 points on 35 goals and 12 assists to go along with team-bests in caused turnovers (25) and draw controls (49). Senior Hannah Elmer (27-17-44) also produced plenty on offense and Katie Wolfe added 18 points, 24 groundballs, 12 caused turnovers and 33 draw controls. Where the Red Dragons will be inexperienced is in the crease, as the only two players on the roster listed as goalkeepers are freshmen.
