Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Clarkson Closes Out 2017 With 6th Straight Win

With a 4-1 victory at Rensselaer on Saturday afternoon the No.3 ranked Clarkson University Women's Hockey team takes a six-game winning streak into a lengthy break and posts one of the best records in the nation at 17-3-1. The Golden Knights also hold first place in the ECAC Hockey standings with an 8-2 league mark.

Four different Knights scored in the victory over RPI (7-9-4, 4-3-1) at Houston Field House in Troy and senior Shea Tiley (Owen Sound, ONT) posted 18 stops in the Green and Gold's six straight win over the Engineers.

One day after putting up 62 shots on net in Friday's 5-1 win at Union, Clarkson peppered Rensselaer's goaltenders with 46 shots on Saturday. The Knights went 1-of-2 on the power play and killed off all four of RPI's man-advantage chances, extending their string of successful kills to 10.

The Knights scored three quick goals before the first period was 10 minutes old to take control on the road.

Clarkson started the scoring, connecting on the first power-play chance of the day with junior Cassidy Vinkle (Belleville, ONT) netting her third goal of the season at 5:10. Senior Amanda Titus (Stittsville, ONT) and junior defenseman Josiane Pozzebon (Bourget, ONT) assisted.

Less than two minutes later, the Knights' top line combined for the second goal as sophomore center Michaela Pejzlova (Pardubice, Czech Rep.) finished off passes from left wing Loren Gabel (Kitchener, ONT) and freshman right wing Elizabeth Giguere (Quebec City, QUE) at 7:06 for her 16th goal of the season and 12th tally over the past 12 games.

Clarkson continued to roll and added its third score in a span of 3:33. Freshman Michaela Boyle (Reading, MA) tipped in a Emma Keenan (Calgary, ALB) shot from the point for her third goal of the season at 8:43. Titus also assisted.

The Engineers got on the scoreboard just 15 seconds in the middle frame with Shayna Tomlinson scoring, but the Green and Gold came right back to dampen any comeback bid by the home team.

Sixty-six seconds in to the period, Giguere scored unassisted for her 14th goal of her rookie campaign.

Clarkson is now off until January 12 when it returns to action hosting RPI at
Cheel Arena.
