Tiley Sets Another Record in Clarkson's 4-0 Win over Princeton

With a 29-save effort, senior Shea Tiley (Owen Sound, ONT) picked up her NCAA-leading seventh shutout of the year by blanking Princeton 4-0 at Cheel Arena on Saturday afternoon and in the process became the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team's all-time win leader.

Tiley, who set the school record for career shutouts last Saturday, put her name in the Golden Knights' record book once again with her 91st career victory, breaking the old mark established by Erica Howe '14. Tiley, who has started 127 games at Clarkson, posts an all-time record of 91-23-14, including 31 shutouts.

Ranked fourth in the national polls, Clarkson improves its record to 12-3-1 overall and 4-2-0 in ECAC Hockey play. The Knights are now off until Thursday, November 30 when they host archrival St. Lawrence.

"Today was a good response to a disappointing loss yesterday," stated Head Coach Matt Desrosiers. "We kept things smart and simple today which allowed us to play a fairly complete game. It was also nice to see the scoring spread out. Princeton is always a tough team to play against so those will be two big league points for us down the road."

The Knights held a one-shot advantage over Princeton (2-5-3, 2-5-1), 30-29, but Tiley needed to be at her best in the second period when the Tigers, benefiting from three power-play opportunities, fired 16 shots on the Clarkson goal.

Junior Rhyen McGill (Whitby, ONT) tallied the only goal the Knights would need at 7:11 of the first period, connecting on a shot from the bottom of the right circle with linemates, freshman Kristy Pidgeon (Ingleside, ONT) and junior Cassidy Vinkle (Belleville, ONT) assisting.

With 2.1 seconds left in the period, sophomore Michaela Pejzlova (Pardubice Czech Rep) finished off a cross-crease pass from freshman Elizabeth Giguere (Quebec City, QUE) for a power-play goal. Senior captain, defenseman Savannah Harmon (Downers Grove, IL) started the scoring play at the blueline.

After a scoreless second period, the Green and Gold padded their lead early in the final frame with a pair of goals in the opening three minutes.

At 1:56, freshman defenseman Meaghan Hector (Georgetown, ONT) scored her first collegiate goal on a shot from the top of the right circle that found its way through a screen in front.  Pejzlova picked up the lone assist.

Sophomore Taylor Turnquist (Blaine, MN) made it 4-0 at 3:15 with her first goal of the season, firing in a shot from the slot after senior Amanda Titus (Stittsville, ONT) forced a Princeton turnover. Harmon recorded her second assist of the day and now has 95 career points (25-70).

Clarkson was 1-of-5 on the power play and killed off all five of the Tigers' chances, including 64 seconds of two-man advantage in the second period.
