Clarkson Hockey Announces Class of 2020

Casey Jones, the Leonard S. Ceglarski Endowed Chair for the Clarkson University Hockey team, will be welcoming nine new freshmen to the Golden Knights in the Class of 2020.

The group of nine comprises four forwards, four defensemen and one goaltender. Four of the incoming Golden Knights competed in the United States Hockey League (USHL), three come from the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), and one each played in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) and the North American Hockey League (NAHL). Three of the freshmen come from Europe, two are Alberta natives and one each hail from Minnesota, New York, Ontario and Quebec.

"We are very excited about integrating this class with our group of returning players," stated Jones. "It is a deep class that has some highly skilled players, but most importantly it has student-athletes with a lot of character. Phil (Roy) and Josh (Hauge) did an outstanding job putting this class of student-athletes together. We have four forwards coming in who should all contribute. On the back end, we think we have guys coming in that really meet our team needs and will add depth to our blueline. We have also added a goaltender, who we feel has a chance to be an impact and will compete for playing time immediately. This class is equally accomplished in the class room and should have immediate success at Clarkson on and off the ice."

Devin Brosseau (St. Lambert, QUE) and Sheldon Rempal (Calgary, ALB), teammates for Nanaimo in the BCHL, Haralds Egle (Liepaja, Latvia), who played for Chicago/USHL and Nico Sturm (Augsburg, GER) of Tri City/USHL make up a talented group of incoming forwards.

Jere Astren (Helsinki, Finland) from Fargo/USHL, Dakota Ford (Hanawa Falls, NY) from New Jersey/NAHL, Greg Moro (Edmonton, ALB) from Llyodminister/AJHL and Jordan Schneider (Toronto, ONT) of Langley/BCHL comprise a solid core of rookie defensemen, and Jake Kielly (Eden Prairie, MN) from Tri-City gives Clarkson an elite prospect in goal.
