CU Women's Lacrosse Preview - vs. SUNY Canton (3/23)

Winners of four straight, the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team hopes to extend its streak on Wednesday when the team travels down Route 11 to face SUNY Canton.

The Golden Knights, 4-1 overall, have been clicking as of late with double-digit wins in each of the last three games. Clarkson has averaged 16 goals per game in that stretch and allowed just 4.3 gpg, a margin of 35 total goals. However, the Knights haven't enjoyed much luck against the Kangaroos in the last two years. The all-time series is tied at two games apiece, but following two lopsided victories that saw the Knights win 38-12 in 2012 and 2013, SUNY Canton has come away with a pair of two-goal wins in each of the last two seasons.

Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week Christine Wright has been dominant as of late, scoring 19 points in her last two games. Overall, she has scored 17 goals and assisted on 16 more for a league-best 33 tallies through five games (6.6 ppg). She has also added in team-bests of 14 draw controls and eight caused turnovers. Junior Ashley Flick leads the conference in goals per game with 4.0 (20 total) and has already accumulated more assists this year (four) than she did in her first two seasons. The duo of Wright and Flick have combined to score 59.6% of the team's goals this year, but the Knights are also receiving solid contributions from Taylor Collins (5g, 4a), Kate Dillon (5g, 3a), Casey Shannon (6g) and Stephanie Lynch (3g, 4a). Hanna Gleason leads the team with nine groundballs, while Flick and Dillon have each produced eight. In the Clarkson crease, Samantha Gladd has been solid with a 6.93 goals against average and .491 save percentage.

Robyn Carroll has been a one-player wrecking crew for the Kangaroos so far, scoring 43.3% of the team's goals (26 of 60) and being a part of another 15.0% with nine assists. She also leads the team with 23 groundballs, 21 draw controls and 14 caused turnovers. Devyn Hutcheson is second on the team in scoring with 15 points on nine goals and six assists and MaryClare Bowes has accumulated nine points, with eight coming as goals. Amanda Woods has been all over the field as well with 15 groundballs, 12 caused turnovers and nine draws and Tsieboo Herne has performed well on defense with 11 groundballs and eight caused turnovers. Through five games, Becca Kieffer is posting averages of 12.60 goals per game, 12.2 saves per game, and a .492 save percentage.
