Bartell Named Director of Cheel Arena

Josh Bartell, a 1996 Clarkson University graduate and a former Golden Knight hockey player, has been named Cheel Arena Director.

Bartell, who received a bachelor of science degree in Marketing, will oversee the day-to-day operations of Clarkson's 3,000-seat arena.

"We are extremely excited to have Josh back at Cheel Arena," stated Clarkson Athletic Director Steve Yianoukos. "As an alum he has a passion for Clarkson and a love for Clarkson Hockey. His interpersonal skills coupled with his experience as a player and his work with minor hockey made him a natural choice for the position. We are pleased to have him on staff and are looking forward to working with him in the future."

Bartell, who has worked 16 years in higher education, has been actively involved with North Country minor hockey for over 15 years. He has worked with associations in the Potsdam and Norwood-Norfolk communities along with being a coach and evaluator for USA Hockey.

""I am extremely excited about the opportunity," said Bartell. "This position combines my years of higher education experience, my time at Clarkson as an undergraduate student-athlete and my work here in the community. I think it will be a great opportunity to combine all those things into something that I really love to do. I want to help Casey (Jones) and Matt (Desrosiers) and their staffs in making their programs better. I remember the days when the stands were always full and it was a great atmosphere to play home games. I want to help continue that tradition of making Cheel one of the best arenas in the country to watch college hockey."

Bartell has worked in SUNY Potsdam's Admissions Office since 2001. He is currently working towards a master's degree in Business Administration.

A four-year regular on the Clarkson blueline from 1992-96, Bartell serves as President of Clarkson Hockey's Alumni Association. The on-air color commentator for the Clarkson Hockey Radio network since 1998, Bartell was a 1991 National Hockey League draft choice of the Philadelphia Flyers.
