Taylor Named Blues Vice President of Hockey Operations

The St. Louis Blues announced recently that the National Hockey League organization has named former Clarkson University Hockey standout Dave Taylor as Vice President of Hockey Operations.

Taylor joined the Blues organization in July 2010 and served as the club’s Director of Player Personnel for the past two seasons. Previously, Taylor served as Director of Player Personnel of the Dallas Stars for three seasons (2007-2010) and as General Manager of the Los Angeles Kings for nine seasons (1997-2006) where he drafted Dustin Brown, Anze Kopitar and 2012 Conn Smythe winner Jonathan Quick. On the ice, Taylor spent his entire career with Los Angeles and was a member of the renowned “Triple Crown Line” with Marcel Dionne and Charlie Simmer. The Kings’ all-time games played leader appeared in 1,111 contests, tallying 431 goals and 638 assists for 1,069 points. On April 3, 1995, Taylor’s number 18 jersey was retired by the Kings.

Taylor enjoyed a tremendous career at Clarkson. Named a Top 50 Player in ECAC Hockey history, his accolades include: 1977 All-America honors, 1970-79 ECAC Hockey All-Decade Second Team, 1977 ECAC Hockey Player of Year, 1977 All-Conference First Team, Clarkson’s all-time scoring leader in assists (153) and points (251), 1977 ECAC Hockey goals leader (41 goals in 34 games), 1977 NCAA points leader (108 points in 34 games) and ECAC Hockey record-holder for points in a season (108). One of only three ECAC Hockey Players to exceed 100 points in a season, Taylor served as two-time co-captain (1976-77) of the Golden Knights, and was a three-time selection as Clarkson's Most Valuable Player (1974-76-77). He was a 1992 Inaugural Clarkson Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee.
