Chris Rogles has decided to step down from his position as assistant coach for the Clarkson University Hockey team and enter the business world. A former all-star Golden Knight goaltender from 1989-93, he has been on the Clarkson coaching staff since January 2010.
“I am resigning due to personal reasons," said Rogles. "Clarkson and the Potsdam Community will always be a special place to my family and me. I have enjoyed my time here at Clarkson and the decision to leave was a difficult one. My wife, Audra, and I are both Alums and we look forward to returning to Clarkson to celebrate our Alumni weekends with our friends, both old and new. I will miss being around the rink, I’ll miss the players and the camaraderie in the locker room. There are some terrific young men on our team who deserve to have a successful season. We turned the corner last season, and with the talent we have I believe we are positioned to have a successful season in 2011-12. I wish Casey, his new staff, and all the players the best of luck in the future.”
Rogles will oversee the Golden Knight Hockey Camp this week before leaving the University to pursue a career in medical equipment sales.
“I am sorry to see Chris leave,” stated head coach Casey Jones. “I was really looking forward to working with Chris. I received a lot of positive feedback about Chris from everyone associated with the program. He is an energetic guy with great work habits, and his connections with the Alumni would have been a great asset in my first year. I know this was a tough decision for him. I wish Chris and his family all the best and look forward to seeing him at future Alumni events.”
Rogles is a 1993 Clarkson graduate with a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Engineering and Management.
