A long season became even longer for the Clarkson University Hockey team, which suffered an 11-2 loss at Union College on Friday night. Playing shorthanded with six regulars out of the lineup due to injuries and illness, and skating only 16 players, the Golden Knights dropped their seventh straight game to fall to 5-19-3 overall and to 1-12-4 in ECAC Hockey action. Clarkson will look to turn things around when it plays at Rensselaer on Saturday.
With a goal just 20 seconds after the opening faceoff, Clarkson looked to be on its way to a strong first period. Sophomore Corey Tamblyn (Bobcaygeon, ONT) tallied his fifth goal of the season off assists from senior Matt Beca (Mississauga, ONT) and sophomore Nick Tremblay (Candiac, QUE), but Union roared back with five straight goals to hold a commanding lead just 11:41 into the period.
