A week after its first full-distance race of the year, the Clarkson University Cross Country team will race on familiar ground, competing in the annual Hoffmann Invitational hosted by St. Lawrence University.

The Field: Joining the Golden Knights for Saturday's race are host St. Lawrence, SUNY Canton, Clinton Community College, Mohawk Valley Community College, Ottawa Lions, Paul Smiths, Plattsburgh State, SUNY Potsdam, Queens, University of Ottawa, and Word of Life.

The Team: Sophomores will be getting their second look at the Hoffmann course, but many juniors and seniors have run the course several times since St. Lawrence had a pair of races on its course back in 2022.

Drew Reigelsperger had the top finish a year ago, taking 19th in the field of 71 runners with a time of 27 minutes, 32.0 seconds. Tyler Nickels was one spot lower in the rankings in 27:39.0, the first time in his collegiate career where he finished the event in less than 28 minutes. Freshman Frank Consolazio, a two-time Liberty League Rookie of the Week, has finished in the top 10 in both of his collegiate races and could vie for the top spot among Clarkson runners once again this weekend.

The team's top runner on the women's side, Gianna Capoccia, hasn't participated in a race on the Hoffmann course since 2021, as she missed the 2022 season and the 2023 race at St. Lawrence, and the likelihood of her topping her 26:26 time in the 6K from 2021 is excellent, considering the last time she finished a race in over 26 minutes was her first collegiate campaign. Skylar Francis was the Knights' top runner a year ago, finishing in just under 28 minutes to take 24th.
