CU Cross Country Preview - at Hoffmann Invitational (9/23)

Immediately after running the first full-length race of the year last Saturday, the Clarkson University Cross Country will be back on a familiar course as the team heads down Route 11 to compete in the annual Hoffmann Invitational, hosted by St. Lawrence University

The Team: Although the Ronald C. Hoffman Cross Country Course is a frequent site for the NCAA Regionals and Liberty League Championships, this will be the only time that the Golden Knights run at SLU this fall. A handful of runners have had multiple chances to shine on the course. Junior Tyler Nickels has completed the course in less than 29 minutes in each of his three tries, including a 28:04.1 time at last year's Hoffmann Invitational. His time swelled to 28:59.7 last year at the NCAA Regionals with a deeper field and a sloppier track. Andrew Wade had a similar problem with the muddy course in his second run, as his time increased by 33.7 seconds from the Hoffmann to the Regional. Riley Sawyer also posted a sub-30 minute time in his freshman year of 2021. For the women, Gianna Capoccia did not race at SLU in 2022, but did post a 26:26 back in 2021. A week ago, she was a minute quicker than that time in the 6K race at Rochester. Both Meilin Lamanna and Kylie Nowicki have also posted sub-30 minute times on the Hoffmann Course.
