Benway Wins North Country Five Meet

Junior Alex Benway (Queensbury, NY) came through with a first- place finish for the Clarkson University Cross Country team at the 2010 North Country Five Meet held at Paul Smiths College on Wednesday afternoon. Benway won the 5k race with a time of 16:53.8.

Sophmore Pat Carroll (Queensbury, NY) came in third (17:18.2), followed by junior Neal Campbell (Queensbury, NY) in eighth (17:44.8). Juniors Matthew Gammariello (Webster, NY) and Jeff Jones finished 14th (18:03.8) and 19th (18:22.6), respectively.

Freshman Catherine Zarnofsky (Glenville, NY) paced the Golden Knight Women with a seventh-place showing, finishing the 5k-course with a time of 22:14.2.

Freshman Erin Corrigan (Remsen, NY), sophomore Jessica Hernandez (Owego, NY) and freshman Natalie Worley (Williamsville, NY) placed 18th (23:51.9), 19th (24:06.4) and 20th (24:12.2), respectively. Senior Alicia Perras (Portsmouth, RI) placed 24th (25:12.1).
