Biography

SOPHOMORE SEASON (2025-26):  Smellie took a significant step forward during her sophomore season at Clarkson, appearing in all 35 games and establishing career highs with two goals, 13 assists and 15 points. She more than doubled her point production from her freshman campaign while registering 41 shots on goal, a plus-four rating and the first game-winning goal of her collegiate career. 

Smellie scored her first goal of the season in Clarkson’s 6-1 victory over St. Lawrence on November 12. She also contributed assists in wins over Brown and St. Cloud State as she became a consistent playmaking presence in the Golden Knights’ forward group. The Whitby, Ontario, native delivered the best offensive performance of her collegiate career in Clarkson’s record-setting 15-0 victory over Saint Michael’s on January 2. Smellie scored once and added three assists for a career-high four points. She followed with two more assists the next afternoon, giving her six points during the two-game series.

Smellie continued her productive stretch with assists against Cornell, RPI and St. Lawrence. She finished the season with six points during ECAC Hockey competition and provided Clarkson with dependable depth throughout the lineup.  

With her improved production, playmaking ability and consistent presence in all 35 games, Smellie completed a successful sophomore campaign. Her 15-point season established her as a valuable part of Clarkson’s forward group and provided momentum entering her junior year.


FRESHMAN SEASON (2024-25):  Jenna made an immediate contribution during her freshman season at Clarkson, appearing in 32 games for the Golden Knights. The forward recorded two goals and six assists for eight points while producing 21 shots on goal and a plus-four rating.

Smellie delivered the best performance of her freshman campaign in Clarkson’s 14-0 victory at Saint Michael’s on September 28. She scored the first two goals of her collegiate career and added an assist for a season-high three points, helping the Golden Knights complete a dominant opening weekend.  The Whitby, Ontario, native continued her productive start with an assist against Vermont before recording two assists in Clarkson’s 4-0 victory over Robert Morris. She later added an assist in an 8-3 ECAC Hockey win at RPI.

Smellie also contributed during Clarkson’s postseason run, assisting in the Golden Knights’ 2-1 victory over Quinnipiac in the ECAC Hockey quarterfinals. She remained in the lineup as Clarkson advanced to the conference semifinals and earned a fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
