Jacob Shirley has been named the Liberty League Pitcher of the Week as announced by the league on Monday, following his performance over the weekend.
The junior hurler from Boxford, MA, showcased a complete-game performance in the Golden Knights' 8-1 win over University of Rochester on Friday. Shirley struck out nine while giving up just one run on seven hits and walking a lone batter over the nine-inning outing, picking up his fourth win of 2026.Â
On the season, Shirley, who has received the honor twice now, ranks first on the team in strikeouts (60) and innings pitched (49.1) with his afternoon on Friday counting as his second complete game this year. Through his nine starts, which also leads the league, he has walked just 11 batters with opponents hitting just .236 against him.Â
