DeRegis and Abernethy Sweep Men's Basketball Liberty League Weekly Awards

Junior Steve DeRegis and freshman Nate Abernethy of the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team garnered the Liberty League's two weekly honors when the conference announced its award winners on Monday afternoon.

DeRegis was chosen as the Liberty League Performer of the Week after averaging 18.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in the Golden Knights' 2-0 weekend versus Ithaca College and RIT. DeRegis posted 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting in a win over the Bombers on Friday and then notched 20 points on 7-for-9 shooting in only 23 minutes against RIT on Saturday. For the season, DeRegis ranks 14th in the Liberty League in scoring average at 13.9 points per game and easily leads the conference in 3-pointers made with 54.

Abernethy was selected as the Liberty League Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this year thanks to 16.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game over the weekend. He posted 15 points, seven rebounds, and four blocked shots against Ithaca College on Friday, and then added 17 points and 12 rebounds with a pair of blocks in the win over RIT on Saturday. This year, Abernethy ranks 11th in the conference in scoring at 14.6 points per game, while also placing ninth in rebounds (6.1 rpg) and 10th in blocks (0.9 bpg).
