Clarkson Visits RIT for Saturday Night Showdown
Potsdam, N.Y. – The Clarkson University Men's Hockey team hits the road Saturday night for a non-conference matchup against the RIT Tigers, as the Golden Knights look to continue building momentum early in the 2025-26 season.
The two programs have developed a competitive rivalry in recent years, with most contests decided by a single goal. Clarkson holds a narrow edge in the all-time series, but RIT has proven to be a dangerous opponent capable of pulling off upsets — including a 3-2 victory in Potsdam last October.
Clarkson enters the weekend looking to build on its strong series at Penn St. last week. The hard-fought series against Penn State produced a 6-4 win on Thursday and a 5-2 loss on Friday, btu the Knights held a 2-0 lead at one point. Clarkson gained valuable experience for this young line up in a hostile environment against a nationally ranked opponent. The win on Thursday was the Knights first against a top 5 ranked team since the win over Quinnipiac in 2022.
RIT comes into the game looking for their first win of the young season after they dropped their first two against Sacred Heart. RIT had their long time coach, Wayne Wilson, retire over the summer, and is now under the direction of former Tiger, Matt Thomas.Â
Saturday's game is set for 7 p.m. at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y. Clarkson will return home next weekend to open their home schedule with a two game series vs North Dakota.
