On Tuesday afternoon, seven of Clarkson University's Division III student-athletes were rewarded for their excellence in sport and in the classroom as the 2023-24 College Sports Communicator Academic All-District At-Large teams were announced.

From the women's lacrosse team, Madelynn Barnum, Julia Lavarnway, and Hailey Millington achieved the honor, while men's lacrosse players Sebastian Geiger, Andrew Kearney, and Matt Reilly, as well as men's Nordic skier Kai Richter, were selected.

The 2024 Academic All-District® At-Large Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletics and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Selections must have a 3.50 grade-point average or better with at least sophomore athletic and academic standing to be considered. Additionally, nominees must compete in at least 90% of athletic competitions, or start 66% of a program's games. The At-Large teams are used for more than a dozen sports that are not offered at the majority of institutions across the country.

Barnum, a senior who majored in Mechanical Engineering, was selected as a Liberty League All-Star for the fourth straight season and was chosen as a IWLCA All-Region selection for the second consecutive year. Barnum led the conference in goals per game and points per game.

Lavarnway, who returned to Clarkson as a graduate student for her MBA, was named a Liberty League Second-Team All-Star and led the Liberty League in assists for the second straight season. She surpassed the 200-point mark for her career.

Millington, a senior who majored in Biology, ranked among the team leaders in goals for the second straight season and surpassed the 100-point mark in her Clarkson career, coming up just short of 100 goals in her four seasons with the Golden Knights.

For the men, Geiger returned for his MBA as a graduate student and once again ranked among the team leaders in goals and points. He finished off his career with 151 points, including 118 goals, which ranks fifth on Clarkson's all-time list.

Kearney, a senior who double-majored in Engineering & Management and Mechanical Engineering, tied for second on the team in goals scored (35) and was second in points (45), scoring his 35 goals on just 49 shots on goal.

Reilly, a senior who majored in Civil Engineering, was a Liberty League First-Team All-Star and USILA All-American Honorable Mention. He led the team in scoring with 50 points and tied for second in goals scored with 35, surpassing the 100-point threshold for his career at Clarkson.

Richter, a graduate student who majored in Civil Engineering for the Clarkson Nordic Ski team, was a USCSA All-American after finishing seventh at the USCSA National Championships held outside of Lake Placid. He finished fourth in the 15K Classic and fifth in the 7.5K Skate at the nationals in March.
