Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Boston College hands Knights first loss of the season

The Clarkson Women's Hockey team ran into a BC team that relied on great goaltending and shot blocking to hand the Knights their first defeat of the 2024-25 season.

While the Knights outshot the Eagles 13 to 5 in the opening period, BC seemed to have the energy advantage early on and it paid off when Julia Pellerin scored unassisted at 10:52.

As the Knights offensive pressure mounted, the reward came when Baylee Kirwan scored her 3rd of the season with just :40 seconds left in the opening period.

A penalty just seconds later would have an impact in the start of the 2nd period.  Nicole Gosling would be called for interference at 19:38.  With the intermission to prepare and then fresh sheet of ice, the Eagles capitalized when Sammy Taber's scored just 20 seconds in.

The Knights had a 3-on-5 opportunity, that they could not capitalize on and BC would actually outshot the Knights in the middle period, 10 to 6 and take the 2-1 lead into the break.

In the final 20 minutes, Clarkson would outshot BC 8-4 but would have many of their shots blocked, and then with 2:58 and the team pressing for the equalizer, Gaby Roy was able to win the race to the loose puck in the neutral zone and give the Eagles a 3-1 lead.

Clarkson would pull Minotti for the extra attacker, but couldn't generate clean looks at the net and end up dropping their first decision of the season.

Julia Minotti would make 16 saves and several huge saves to keep the game at 2-1 but fell to 3-1 on the season.

Clarkson was 0 for 4 on the power play and gave up 1 goal on 3 chances to the Eagles.

The two teams will face off tomorrow at 2:00 pm at Conte Forum
