Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Clarkson explodes for 9 goals in win over Harvard

Clarkson exploded for their largest goal output in nearly six seasons, when they dropped Harvard 9-1 today at the Bright Landry Hockey Center.  Nine different Knights contributed goals and 15 total Knights combined for a total of 24 points.

The Golden Knights continue to get strong point production from the defense, as Shelby Laidlaw opened the scoring for Clarkson, when she gave the Knights a 1-0 lead at 12:58 of the first.  Jaden Bogden got the lone helper on the goal.

Clarkson extended the lead at 14:46 when Brooke McQuigge would score her 8th of the season, with assists from Nicole Gosling and Haley Winn.  Clarkson would out shoot the Crimson 15 to 1 in the opening period.

In the middle frame, the Knights would extend the lead to 3-0 when Dominique Petrie scored against her former team at 4:26.  Harvard would make it 3-1 at 6:34 and that's as close as it would get for the Crimson.  Clarkson would score two more in the 2nd from Darcie Lappan and Alexie Gauy  to take a 5-1 lead into the intermission.

In the 3rd period Keira Hurry would get her second of the game at 1:22 to make it 6-1.   Laurence Frenette would score her 5th of the season exactly one minute after, then Bridget Stevenson would net her first goal as a Golden Knight to make it 8-1.  Clarkson would finish off the scoring at 12:10 when Rebecca Morissette would scored her 4th of the season.

The Knights 9 goals and 8 goal margin of victory was the first since they beat Brown 9-1 on Nov. 16th of 2018.

Michelle Pasiechnyk would make 12 saves for her 13th win of the season.

The Knights will now have a few weeks off, while the team works towards finals and Winn, Gosling, and Cherkowski will head off to the USA v Canada Rivalry Series.
