Darcie Lappan's 7th goal of the season and Michelle Pasichnyk's 5th shutout of the season was enough for the Knights to remain unbeaten and blank #11 Yale, 1-0. The Golden Knights and the Bulldogs each had 40 shot attempts in the game that was extremely even throughout.
The games lone goal came in the 1st period, when the Golden Knights found the net 17:53 as
Darcie Lappan scored her 7th on the season. She was assisted by
Sena Catterall and
Jenna Goodwin putting the Golden Knights up 1-0. Goowin's speed was able to negate the icing allowing the play to turn into the goal.
Yale scored what they thought was the game tying goal at 5:57 into the 2nd, but an official review after, determined the play was offsides.
In the 3rd period, things got scary for the Knights fans, when
Dominique Petrie and
Nicole Gosling each received penalties putting the Golden Knights down 2 skaters. Shortly after the face off,
Brooke McQuigge was able to fight to get the puck cleared and Yale was forced to take a hooking call, lessening the power play. Clarkson would kill off the remaining time on the player down situation and have a brief power play.
With 1:30 left in the game, Yale would empty the net but Clarkson never really let them establish any in zone pressure and the Knights completed their 6th team shut out of the season.
This coming week the Golden Knights take on Syracuse Orange in a 2 game series. It will be a short week of rest as Clarkson travels to Syracuse on Tuesday and then hosts the Orange on Saturday at Cheel.
