Clarkson was able to earn an overtime shoot out win at Holy Cross after 65 minutes of 1-1 hockey.
The Knights had several strong chances over the first 40 minutes, but Jason Grande kept Clarkson off the scoresheet thru 2 periods.Â
Ryan Richardson was able to get Clarkson on the board at 9:40 of the 3rd period,
Trey Taylor was credited with the assist.Â
Clarkson was able to hold the Crusaders off the board until late in the game, when Mack Oliphant was able to even the game just as Holy Cross was pulling their goalie for an extra attacker.
A 5 minute overtime did not solve the game, so the game went to a shootout. In round 1
Mathieu Gosselin scored and
Ethan Haider made the save on Holy Cross. In Round 2
Anthony Romano scored and with the 2nd save from Haider the Knights took the win.
Ethan Haider made 29 saves in net for the Knights. Clarkson was 0-2 on the power play and killed off Holy Cross's only attempt with the man advantage.
The Knights will return to ECAC play next weekend when they return to Massachusets to face Harvard on Friday and then travel to Dartmouth on Saturday.
