Clarkson dropped a 4-1 decision tonight at Harvard in a game that special teams played an integral role in the outcome.
Clarkson was able to strike first when they went on the power play in the first period.Â
Alex Campbell was able to get the Knights on the board when he scored at the 6:08 mark of the first, with assists from
Anthony Romano and
Ayrton Martino. Â
Harvard was able to tie the game at 16:05 of the 1st period when Matthew Coronato was able to swat in a loose puck. Harvard owned a 13-8 shot advantage after 1 period of play.
In the 2nd period, the teams traded chances but neither was able to break the deadlock. Â
In the 3rd period, the Crimson struck early, when Sean Farrell scored on the power play at 1:30. The Knights had to press as the period waned, and Harvard was able to extend the lead at 15:30 with an even-strength goal. The Knights would pull Haider for the extra attacker, but Harvard was able to convert with just 32 seconds left to finish the game with a 4-1 win.Â
Ethan Haider made 43 saves in the net for the Knights. Clarkson was 1 for 3 with the power play and allowed Harvard 2 goals on 4 chances with the man advantage.Â
With the loss, the Knights fall to 9-9-3, (3-4-2 ECAC). Next, the Knights will head to Hanover, NH to face the Big Green of Dartmouth. Â
