Poughkeepsie, NY – First-year Lillian Gillett broke the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team's scoreless streak in Liberty League games as she converted early in the 79^th minute to lift the Golden Knights to a 1-0 win over Vassar College on Friday afternoon.

The Golden Knights edged forward to 6-5-2 overall and 1-3-1 in the conference while the Brewers dropped to 6-4-3 and 2-2-1. Clarkson takes on Bard College on Saturday afternoon before returning home for the final three games of the season.

The two teams were relatively even in the first half as the Knights were on the short side of a 7-5 shot margin. The Brewers had many more chances in the second half with a 9-2 edge in shots, including four on the frame, but it was Clarkson that would strike for the lone goal of the contest.

Freshman Julia Tyler took a long free kick and sent the pass into the box where bodies collided in traffic. Vassar goalkeeper Teresa Zimmer was able to get a hand on the ball to make the initial stop, but Gillett snuck in behind and finished off the play at 78:04 to put Clarkson up 1-0. Three of the four second-half shots on goal for Vassar came after the Golden Knights' goal, but sophomore goalkeeper Molly DiCaprio was up to the task, and kept the Brewers scoreless.

Vassar finished with a 16-7 lead in shots and a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal while also holding a narrow 3-2 edge in corner kick chances. DiCaprio stopped six shots for her fifth solo shutout of the year, and Zimmer made three stops for the Brewers.
