Clarkson jumped out quick against the Orange and was able to get a 5-2 win on the road vs the Orange in the first game of what will be 3 straight against Syracuse.
Anne Cherkowski paced the Knights with 2 goals and opened the scoring at 4:50 of the 1st period. Â
Kirstyn McQuigge continues to be a force for the Knights, as she extended the lead to 2-0 late in the 1st frame. The Knights out shot the Orange 7-1 in the first period.Â
Darcie Lappan added to her team lead in points with a goal at 1:19 of the 2nd period. Syracuse would get a goal on the power play mid way through the 2nd, to pull within 2 goals.Â
In the 3rd period Clarkson would book end goals around a 2nd Orange power play goal to finsh with a 5-2 win.Â
Gretchen Branton would get the 4th goal for Clarkson and Cherkowski would finish like she started with the 5th goal.
Michelle Pasiechnyk would make 13 saves for the win in net. Â
Tomorrow the teams will be back in Potsdam for a 6:00 pm face off. Reminder that the game will be part of the Inauguration weekend for Clarkson University's new President. There are several events throughout the game to watch for and admission will be free for all that attend.
