The Clarkson Golden Knights open the 2021-22 season with a line up that features a strong group of veterans with an exciting mix of first year players. Coach
Matt Desrosiers will enter his 14th season with 10 new players mixed in with a roster that returns a Patty Kaz Top Ten Finalist in
Caitrin Lonergan and a ECAC First Team Defenseman in
Nicole Gosling.
The Knights were picked to finish 2nd in the ECAC in the Pre Season Poll, and both Lonergan and Gosling were tabbed as Pre Season All ECAC Selections.
Sacred Heart comes to town on the heels of a 1-10 season in 2020-21. The Pioneers are lead by Tom O'Malley in his 18th season. The Pioneers will carry 29 on the roster this season and are lead by top Sr. Goalie Frankie Sanchez and top returning scorer Paige McNeil (4-1-5).
Clarkson has only faced the Pioneers twice, a 2 game sweep back in the 2003-04 season (3-0 & 11-0)
In the net Clarkson will look to a mix of veterns for starting time. Soph.
Michelle Pasiechnyk will look to pick up where she left off last season. Michelle went 5-5 in 11 games last season, with a 1.71 GAA and a .942% save percentage. Amanda Zeglan returns for a 5th year and will provide valuable experience in the crease.
Marie Dedert and
Alexa Madrid will also compete for time in net for the Knights.
The Blueline will have a good mix of returners and highly touted incoming players.
Nicole Gosling, who was a finalist for ECAC Defenseman of the Year and an ECAC Pre Season All League selection, anchors a D corp that features 3 returners.
Stephanie Markowski and
Emily Wisnewski will also provide experience on the back end. Incoming help will come in the form of transfer
Olivia Hanson from St. Cloud St. and highly touted freshman
Haley Winn and
Andie Proulx.
The scoring attack will benefit from the return of 5th year forward,
Caitrin Lonergan. Caitrin was named a Patty Kaz Top Ten Finalist and ECAC First Team All Star, along with being named an ECAC Pre Season All League selection for 2021-22. Lonergan scored 14 goals last season for the Knights along with 6 assists for 20 points. The Knights return 4 of their top 5 scorers, which includes the teams assist leader,
Gabrielle David. She had 5 goals, 15 assists for 20 points last year and looks to step into the role as a top scorer in the ECAC.
Brooke McQuigge continues to provide great two way play up front where she takes a lot of big faceoffs and contributed 7 goals and 11 assists last season. Sophomore Transfer
Anne Cherkowski and Grad Transfer
Kristina Schuler will help bring experience to the line up. Seniors
Morgan Helgeson and
Miranda Gaudet will also be relied on to contribute valuable shifts.
