A junior, who will graduate this spring with a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematical Economics, Tsekos has compiled a grade point average of 4.00. The Montreal, Que, native has been accepted into Clarkson's MBA program for next year, with a concentration in data analytics, as he completes his final season of eligibility for the Golden Knights.

Tsekos is the third Clarkson player to have won the elite ECAC Hockey Student-Athlete of the Year recognition, following Devin Brosseau '20 last year and Matt Zarbo '14 in 2012-13.

"Zach is a special student athlete," remarked Head Coach Casey Jones.  "He is one of the most motivated, driven and focused students I have had the privilege of coaching.  He has a plan and is executing it. We knew Zach was a talented student when he transferred after his sophomore year at Sacred Hear, but we didn't know how talented he was until he got to Clarkson and we saw his academic work first hand.  Zach is pushing all the boundaries here at Clarkson, taking the most challenging courses our business school and math department have to offer all while prepping to graduate this spring and enroll in his MBA next year.

"Zach has captured the admiration and respect of his teammates through his hard work and commitment to the team on and off the ice.  He embodies everything we want our culture and student athletes to represent.  He fully engrains himself into our commitment to give back to our community.   Zach's goals, drive, determination and academic success are exactly what the top student athlete in this league should represent!"

Tsekos has earned numerous academic honors. He received Dean's list and Presidential Scholar awards and has been inducted into the Omicron Delta Epsilon economics honors society as well as the Beta Gamma Sigma business honors society. He is involved with numerous Clarkson Hockey community service efforts, including The Headway Foundation, Hockey Fights Cancer and Skate With a Knight.

Centering Clarkson's top lines, Tsekos was the Knights' fourth leading scorer with 26 points on eight goals and 18 assists through 34 games. He was named ECAC Hockey Player of the Week after scoring a career-high four points on two goals and two assists in 4-1 win over Brown at Cheel Arena on February 1.

Tsekos helped to lead Clarkson to its third consecutive 20-win campaign, and a second-place 16-5-1 ECAC mark. The Knights finished with a 23-8-3 overall record and were ninth in the final NCAA pairwise rankings.
