Isaksen Chosen ECAC Division III Defensive Player of the Year for Third Consecutive Season

Though the season completed before Thanksgiving, the Clarkson University Volleyball team continues to rack up awards as senior Kate Isaksen was picked as the ECAC Division III Defensive Player of the Year and head coach Carol LaMarche was named the ECAC Division III Coach of the Year.

In addition to the awards, Isaksen and classmate Rachel Reusch were both picked as ECAC Division III First-Team All-Stars.

Isaksen's award for ECAC Division III Defensive Player of the Year is nothing new, as she has earned the honor from the organization in each of the last three seasons. Back in November, she became the first Clarkson Volleyball player to gain AVCA All-American honors on named teams (first, second or third) on three occasions. Only Kirstie Shurie (2014, 2015, both second team) had made it on to two named teams prior to Isaksen, who was picked as an AVCA All-American Second-Team in 2019 after earning AVCA Third-Team selection in 2017 and an AVCA All-American First-Team honor in 2018. Isaksen concluded her career with 3217 digs, seventh all-time in NCAA Division III history, and 6.60 digs per set, which is ninth in NCAA Division III history.

Reusch joined Isaksen on the ECAC First-Team thanks to an outstanding senior season in which she was named the Liberty League Player of the Year, AVCA All-American Honorable Mention and AVCA New York All-Region First-Team. Reusch finished with 3.41 kills per set, 0.70 blocks per set, a .312 hitting percentage, and 4.09 points per set. 

Guiding the team to a 28-6 record, a Liberty League Championship and an appearance in the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals, LaMarche picked up her third coaching award of the fall. In addition to being named ECAC Division III Coach of the Year, she also was selected Liberty League Coach of the Year and AVCA New York Region Coach of the Year, with the latter being her second such honor in the past three seasons.
