Carter Lincoln Chosen as New Head Coach for Clarkson Men's Soccer

The Clarkson University Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Carter Lincoln as the new head coach of the Golden Knights' Men's Soccer program for the 2018-19 season.

Lincoln, a 2015 graduate of University of Vermont with a degree in Community and International Development, replaces one of his mentors Chris Taylor, who served as the Clarkson Men's Soccer head coach from 2014-2017. Lincoln will be the program's ninth head coach when the team begins its 66th season in the fall of 2018.

"I am excited that Carter has accepted the head coaching position," Clarkson Athletic Director Steve Yianoukos remarked. "His knowledge of the current players and his insight into recruiting student-athletes to Clarkson will provide a seamless transition for the continued progress of the program."

"I would like to thank the search committee for providing me the opportunity to lead the Clarkson University Men's Soccer program as the new head coach," Lincoln said. "I am excited to rejoin the CU community and especially to work with student-athletes in this program, who passionately pursue both their academic and athletic goals.  Their dedication and commitment as well as their talent and skill are the components that will contribute to the program's continued upward trajectory of success. I am looking forward to reaching new heights of achievement with this team."

Lincoln spent the last year as an Assistant Coach for Division I University of Vermont, helping the Catamounts win the regular season title in the America East conference. Prior to returning to his alma mater as an assistant coach, Lincoln served two years as the assistant at Clarkson University, providing tutelage for the Golden Knights to score their most goals in 15 seasons in 2015 and allowing the second-fewest goals in program history in 2016.

As a collegiate player, Lincoln spent three seasons with the Catamounts after transferring from Division II Southern New Hampshire University. In his lone season with the Penmen, Lincoln played in seven games and earned one start, scoring a goal on a penalty kick. In his three years with Division I Vermont, Lincoln played in 38 games and had nine starting nods as a midfielder.

A native of Essex Junction, VT, Lincoln has coached soccer in the Northeast since 2011. In New Hampshire, he worked with the Bow and Hooksett youth soccer programs and upon returning to Vermont, he coached Synergy FC, a group comprised of U10 to U17 athletes. While at Clarkson, he coached the FC Freeze U16 boys' team. He is a USSF D licensed coach.
