Senior James Homan of the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team added to his already impressive haul of awards this fall when he became Clarkson's second player in the last three seasons to earn national honors when he was picked as a United Soccer Coaches Third-Team All-American.

Homan's selection was announced at the NCAA Division III Pre-Championship banquet in advance of the NCAA's semifinals and finals this weekend. He is the second player to earn All-American honors in recent years, joining goalkeeper Michael King, who earned D3soccer.com Third-Team All-American in 2016. Homan is the first field player for the Knights to gain All-American honors since Michael Kirmse was chosen in 1993.

The Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year, Homan also earned Google Cloud/CoSIDA Academic All-District 3, United Soccer Coaches East All-Region First-Team. and Liberty League First-Team All-Star honors this fall. Homan captained a defensive effort that allowed a league-low 10 goals in 17 games all season long for a conference-best 0.59 goals per game and a 0.57 goals against average, which currently ranks 16th in all of Division III. Clarkson's defense also was 11th in the nation in save percentage (.873), owed in part to the Knights not allowing quality opportunities on the frame, and 17th in shutout percentage (0.59). During the regular season, Clarkson ranked second in the conference in both shots allowed per game (9.41) and corner kicks allowed per game (3.47). Homan was twice picked as the Liberty League Defensive Player of the Week and was a key component of the Golden Knights' offense, tying for third on the team in goals with three, including a pair of game-winners.
