Clarkson Wins Fourth Straight in Sweep of Oswego State

Potsdam, NY – Thirteen players saw time on Tuesday for the Clarkson University Volleyball team as the Golden Knights utilized a team effort to earn a 3-0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-12) sweep of Oswego State on Tuesday night at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Golden Knights improved to 9-6 on the season with their fourth straight win, while Oswego State fell to 7-10. Clarkson will be back in conference action this weekend with two big matches against RIT and Ithaca.

Oswego State struggled on offense all night, hitting negative in each set, though the Lakers hitting percentage improved from set to set. Clarkson hit .458 in the first set with 13 kills and just two errors on 24 swings. The Knights cooled in the next two sets with different combinations, but regardless of which players were in, Clarkson saw plenty of success.

Sophomore Maddie Bredehoeft was busy early, striking for five kills in each of the first two sets and finishing with a hitting percentage of close to .500 with 13 kills and only two errors on 23 attempts. Rachael Aird was next on offense for the Knights with five kills, but she also added in five total blocks (two solo, three assists). Jillian Saenz and Amanda Collins split setting duties, with Saenz finishing with 19 assists and Collins contributing eight assists. Kate Isaksen led the defense with 16 digs.
