Clarkson is coming off mixed reviews after a weekend split at Cheel Arena over the weekend. The Knights hit on all cylinders in Friday's 4-0 victory over Merrimack, but gave up an early lead on Saturday as UNH scored the game's final three goals to hand the Green and Gold a 5-3 loss. Clarkson opened its 95th campaign with a home-and-home split with the University of Vermont on October 7-8, losing 5-2 in Potsdam before earning a 3-2 win in Burlington.

•    The Knights have won three straight over Providence and lead the all-time series, which started with a 7-4 Clarkson win in 1953, 34-16-1.  The Knights won the last meeting nine years ago in Cheel, shutting out the Friars 2-0 on October 13, 2007.
•    Lowell has enjoyed significant success over the Knights recently to take a two-game lead in the all-time series, holding a 13-11-1 advantage. Clarkson won the first meeting 10-2 in Potsdam on November 11, 1978, and was 6-2 against the River Hawks in the 1990s, but Lowell has dominated play in the 2000s with an unbeaten 9-0-1 mark against the Green and Gold. In their last meeting, the River Hawks shut out the Knights 3-0 at the Three Rivers Classic in Pittsburgh on December 28.
•    Freshman left wing Devin Brosseau leads the Knights in points through the first two weekends of the season with four assists in three games. He tallied a pair of assists in each game over the weekend to earn ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week honors. Brosseau is the first Clarkson freshman to receive the league's Rookie of the Week honor since Kelly Summers gained the accolade on February 9, 2015.
•    Clarkson's Class of 2020 accounted for eight assists over the weekend. Rookie defenseman Greg Moro tallied two assists in Friday's win over Merrimack for his first collegiate points. Freshman center Nico Sturm posted one assist in each game.
• Jake Kielly was perfect in the Knights' crease on Friday, blanking Merrimack 4-0 behind 23 saves. Kielly became the first Clarkson freshman goaltender to record a shutout since Steve Perry recorded his fourth whitewash of his rookie campaign in the 4-0 win over Princeton in the ECAC Hockey playoffs on March 8, 2014. Kielly has started all four games for the Green and Gold and posts a .900 save percentage and a 2.77 goals against average.
• Sophomore Juho Jokiharju played his first games of the season this past weekend and made the most of the outings, scoring his first three collegiate goals, including two of Clarkson's three scores against UNH on Saturday. Jokiharju played in just five games as a freshman and did not record a point. He is the Knights' leading goal scorer early this season. Making the weekend even better for Jokiharju was that his parents, Sari and Juha, made the trip to Potsdam from Tampere, Finland to see the games this past weekend.
• Junior center, assistant captain Brett Gervais scored his first career shorthanded goal in the win over Merrimack for the Knights' second man-down tally of the season. Last year, Clarkson scored just one shorthanded goal. Junior center Ben Dalpe had the Green and Gold's other SHG this year for the game-winner in the 3-2 win at Vermont.
• Clarkson was 15-2-2 at home last season, but has already lost two of its first three games at Cheel this year.
• The Knights have outscored opponents 9-6 through the first two periods combined, but have been outscored 6-3 over the final 20 minutes, including a 6-2 margin at home.
• Specialty teams play has been a major part of early season games in the NCAA. Clarkson is 3-of-30 (10%) on the power play and killed off 27-of-30 (90%) opponent man-advantage opportunities.
• Clarkson has scored the opening goal in three of the first four games, going 2-1.
• Senior goaltender Steve Perry and junior defenseman Terrance Amorosa did not play in the first two weekends, nursing minor injuries.
• Senior defenseman James de Haas serves as the Knights' captain. Joining de Haas in leadership roles for Clarkson this season are senior Perry D'Arrisso and juniors Gervais and Nic Pierog, who will serve as assistant captains.
• The Knights are receiving votes (5) in the USCHO.com poll this week, and are picked to finish fourth in the ECAC this year by the league coaches.
•    In its 95th season, Clarkson boasts 71 winning campaigns and a 1,397-837-149 all-time record for a .618 winning % since 1920-21.
•    Clarkson was ranked 15th among the Top 25 College Hockey Programs of All Time by HERO Sports - http://herosports.com/
•    Four current Golden Knights have been selected in the NHL Draft – James de Haas (2012 Detroit - 6th rd, 170), Terrence Amorosa (2013 Philadelphia - 5th rd, 189), Troy Josephs (2013 Pittsburgh - 7th rd, 209) and Kelly Summers (2014 Ottawa - 7th rd, 189).

Scouting Providence
National Champions in 2015, Providence College is coming off a 27-7-4 overall record in 2015-16. The Friars, guided by former Union College head coach Nate Leaman, now in his sixth season in Providence, has played in three one-goal games to start the 2016-17 campaign, going 1-2. Providence won its opening game, defeating Miami 4-3 at Schneider Arena on October 7, but lost the next two, falling to the RedHawks 2-1 on October 8 and to Holy Cross 2-1 in overtime last Saturday at the DCU Center in Worcester, MA.

One of the premier programs in the country the past several years, UMass-Lowell is 2-0-2 on the season entering Friday's game against St. Lawrence. The River Hawks, guided by sixth-year Head Coach Norm Bazin, are ranked fifth in the country in both national polls. UMass-Lowell earned a sweep out West this past weekend, defeating Colorado College 8-5 and 4-0. The River Hawks opened the year with a pair of ties at the Tsongas Center against Top-10 ranked Minnesota-Duluth, 4-4, 1-1.
