In a tight defensive game, junior Danielle Skirrow (Trenton, ONT) scored midway through the third period to enable the Clarkson University Women’s Hockey team to gain a 1-1 tie against St. Lawrence University in ECAC Hockey action at Cheel Arena on Saturday afternoon.
With 12:46 remaining in regulation, Skirrow swept in a rebound at the top of the crease for her team-high 13th goal of the season. Sophomore Jamie Lee Rattray (Kanata, ONT) flipped a shot on goal to earn an assist, her team-high 16th of the year. Senior Gabrielle Kosziwka (Limehouse, ONT) started the play with a pass to Rattray along the left boards.

Clarkson had an excellent chance to end it with 55 seconds left in the third, but a shot in close by senior Juana Baribeau (Amos, QUE) rang off the near post.
With two power-play opportunities in the first period, St. Lawrence controlled play outshooting the Knights 11-8 through the opening 20 minutes. The Saints took the initial lead at 15:39 as Karell Emard tipped in a shot from the top of the circle by Rylee Smith. Brooke Fernandez also assisted.
St. Lawrence (14-7-4, 8-4-2) outshot the Knights, 30-25, including a 5-to-1 advantage in the five-minute overtime. Sophomore Erica Howe (Ottawa, ONT) made 29 saves for Clarkson. Carmen MacDonald finished with 24 stops for the Saints.

Clarkson, which stands at 14-7-5 overall and 8-4-2 in ECAC Hockey, hosts Colgate and Cornell at Cheel Arena next weekend.
