Rutland, VT - Burying 10 3-pointers in the first half gave the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team a sizeable halftime advantage, and the Golden Knights cruised to a 79-61 victory over the College of St. Joseph Saturday afternoon.

Clarkson pushed its non-league record to 8-3 overall and will play nothing but Liberty League contests for the remainder of the regular season, beginning with a road trip at Vassar and Rensselaer this weekend.

The Knights scored 49 points in the first half at St. Joe's, shooting 16-for-28 (57.1%) with a 10-for-17 performance (58.8%) beyond the 3-point arc. The only thing that kept St. Joe's within any kind of striking distance was its performance on the offensive glass, as the Saints grabbed 12 rebounds on offense. Overall in the contest, the Saints had 23 offensive rebounds and held a 52-30 edge in rebounding. However, Clarkson's performance from the perimeter and the free throw line made (15-for-19) the Knights a tough opponent for St. Joe's.

Junior Felix Llanos (Queens, NY) scored a career-high 21 points, shooting 7-for-13 from the floor with five 3-pointers, to lead four Clarkson players in double figures. Along with Llanos, both senior Shawn Lasalita (San Diego, CA) and sophomore David Cieri (Oneida, NY) also recorded career-highs, with Lasalita tossing in 17 points and Cieri coming through with 13 points. Senior guard Rey Jefferson also contributed 11 points for the Knights.
