Second Half Stuns Knights at Elmira

Elmira, NY - A torrid second half shooting performance that saw Elmira shoot 63.6% from the floor shocked the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team as the Golden Knights saw its strong week come to an unfortunate end in a 84-66 loss Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights, who earlier this week beat the University of Rochester and Cortland State, fell to 6-3 overall. Clarkson will play at Division I Cornell University on Monday.

Clarkson led for almost the entire first half, but found itself up by just three points at the break, 39-36, but the shots that were falling in the first half ceased to do so in the second period. The Knights shot just 30 percent from the floor, while the Soaring Eagles couldn't miss. Elmira made 14 of its 17 free throw attempts and made all six of its 3-point field goal attempts to run away with the win after a 48-27 edge in the second half.

Senior forward Elson Pickering (Brooklyn, NY) scored a game-high 21 points on 8-for-16 shooting while classmate Keith Murray (Queens, NY) added in 12 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals before fouling out. Junior Jonathan Hood (Cortlandt Manor, NY) added 9 points and 6 rebounds.

Bobby DiPiazza scored 20 points to lead Elmira, shooting 7-for-8 from the free throw line and 5-for-9 from the field, including 3-for-3 from long distance. Jon Adamson added 11 points for the Soaring Eagles.
