Potsdam, NY - Just two kills shy of a triple-double, senior setter Jenna Stock (Johnstown, NY) recorded 32 assists and 10 digs to go along with 8 kills to help lead the Clarkson University Volleyball team to its ninth consecutive victory in a straight sets win over Potsdam State, 25-17, 25-17, 25-15, Tuesday night at Maxcy Hall.
The Golden Knights moved to 25-5 overall, having lost just a single set (27-1) during their nine-match winning streak. Clarkson will play in the Regional Challenge this weekend at Ithaca College.
Though the sets were expectedly close in the early going thanks to the enthusiasm of the Bears on their senior night, Clarkson took little time showing its skill, producing impressive hitting percentages in each set. The Knights closed out with a .300 hitting percentage for the match. Stock hit .500 in the match with eight kills and just a single error in 14 swings, but it was Sara Artus (St. Regis Falls, NY) who continued her historic season with a team-best 17 kills (17-4-36). Senior middle MacKenzie Cook (Syracuse, NY) also hit well with 10 kills (10-3-18), as did sophomore Megan Mahon (Irvine, CA) with nine kills (9-3-20).
Clarkson's trademark defense was on display as well as the Knights dug 64 balls in the match, led by junior Alison Schroeder's (Webster, NY) 16. Stock and Artus each had 10 digs, and defensive specialists Amanda Rankin (Horseheads, NY) and Davanna Chetney (Fulton, NY) added 9 and 8 digs, respectively.
