The Series: Although the two schools are not separated by a significant distance, Clarkson and Brockport have only met seven times prior to Saturday's tilt, and four of those came in Clarkson's first decade as a program (1954-1957). The squads have played three times in the 21st century, including games in 2016, 2019, and 2024.

Key Stats for Clarkson (1-0-1): The Golden Knights have emerged as one of the top defensive programs in the nation in recent years, allowing a goal or fewer per game six times in the past decade, a feat that the team had accomplished only five times from 1954-2015 (discounting 1953, when the team played its first and only game of the year as a new program). Clarkson has allowed just 39 goals in its past 50 games since the start of the 2022 season. Junior goalkeeper Carter Kladstrup entered the year as Clarkson's all-time leader in goals against average (0.65) and has already moved up a spot on the all-time shutout list after posting his 16th career clean sheet against Oswego State in the season-opener.

Key Stats for Brockport (1-0-1): Much like Clarkson, Brockport was a defensive-minded team in 2024, allowing only 19 goals in 18 games during the season, which resulted in a number of ties as the team went 7-6-5. Brockport has a 6-7 sophomore goalkeeper in Matthew Sandison who has performed well in his first two outings of 2025, posting a 1.00 goals against average with eight saves in two games. Ryan Mathis leads the team with two goals and Peter Tinaj has added another. The Golden Eagles return three top scorers from a year ago in Tinaj (2-2-6), Max Voyer (5-1-11) and Brady Reinagel (4-2-10).
