CU Men's Soccer Preview - vs. Vassar/Bard (10/12-13)

Although the team will have one more home game before finishing off the season on the road, the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team will be celebrating its seniors this weekend when its hosts Vassar and Bard at Hantz Turf Field.

The Series vs. Vassar: The Golden Knights last beat the Brewers in 2014 and have been outscored 8-3 in the past three seasons, trailing 5-9-4 in 18 meetings. Sophomore Brandon Bahr scored in the 88th minute in last year's 2-1 loss.

The Series vs. Bard: Clarkson has won six of seven games against the Raptors since Bard joined the conference in 2011. The Knights have outscored Bard 17-4 in seven games, but won narrowly in 2017, taking a 1-0 victory behind two saves from Riley McDonald.

Key Stats for Clarkson (7-3-1, 1-2-1 Liberty League): McDonald, one of five seniors for the Golden Knights, owns a 0.20 goals against average with a .952 save percentage and four shutouts. His junior teammate Ian Roeloffs has also played six contests with a 0.80 goals against average and .828 save percentage. Clarkson has outshot opponents 157-102 this year, including a 48-36 advantage in the past four games, but the Knights have scored just once on those 48 opportunities.

Key Stats for Vassar (8-2-0, 4-0-0 Liberty League): The Brewers have yet to give up a goal in conference games, outscoring opponents 7-0 in league contests. Will Marment is posting some of the best goalkeeping numbers in the Liberty League, producing a 0.27 goals against average, a .920 save percentage, 23 saves and five shutouts in eight contests. Mattie Mrlik headlines the team's offense with eight points on two goals and four assists and Quinn Tunnell has notched three goals.

Key Stats for Bard (3-8-1, 0-4-0 Liberty League): The Raptors trail by a wide margin in shots in 2018, taking 92 themselves but allowing 250 to their opponents. Somehow, on those 250 shots, only 21 have made it past the Raptors' defense. Logan Leppo has a 1.71 goals against average and 99 saves with an .826 save percentage. Naka O'Connor leads the offense with 11 points on five goals and an assist and Isaac Yelchin has scored twice.
