CU Men's Soccer Shutout at RPI

A late goal cost the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team who were defeated by RPI 1-0 on Friday afternoon.

Clarkson is now 5-5-2 on the season with a 1-3-1 conference mark while RPI is 4-6-3 overall and 2-2-1 in the Liberty League.

Neither team could score in the first half. One big reason why was the play of goalkeeper Michael King who made three saves to help keep the game scoreless heading into the second frame. Clarkson's best chance came when Henry Gomez was able to knock the ball past on onrushing RPI goalkeeper, but Gomez's effort rolled just wide of the post.

In the second half, RPI was able to take the lead on a set piece. A pass from Devon Baughen found Andrew Gondek who's shot was good enough to beat King for the game's only goal.

RPI held a slight 10-8 edge in shots. The Engineers took six corner kicks while Clarkson took one. King finished with three saves in net while Matt LaBranche made one stop for RPI.

The Golden Knights will stay on the road and head to Union for a 2:00 pm game on Saturday.
