Summers Named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week

After helping the Clarkson University Hockey team close out the 2014 portion of the schedule with a victory, Golden Knight freshman defenseman Kelly Summers was named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week.

A native of Golden Lake, ONT, Summers scored his first two collegiate goals to help lead the Green and Gold past American International College, 4-3, at Cheel Arena on December 30. His first goal came at the 13:59 mark of the first period on a wrist shot from the point to give Clarkson a 2-0 lead. Summers followed it up with a third period power-play goal at the 19:09 mark to tie the game at 3-3.

Clarkson, which holds a 7-8-4 overall record and a third-place 4-1-2 ECAC Hockey amrk, hosts Colgate and Cornell at Cheel Arena this Friday and Saturday.
