MacAulay and Tiley Earn Monthly Honors From ECAC Hockey

ECAC Hockey monthly awards for October, 2014 have been announced and a veteran leader and a talented newcomer for the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team have earned distinction from the league.

The Golden Knights' captain, junior forward Shannon MacAulay was named ECAC Hockey Player of the Month, while freshman goaltender Shea Tiley was selected as the conference's Rookie of the Month. MacAulay and Tiley played a key role in the defending National and ECAC Hockey Regular Season Champions' 7-3 record for October, including a 2-0 league mark.

One of the top scorers in the country, MacAulay recorded a team-high 17 points on eight goals and nine assists, while closing out the month with a four-game point-scoring streak (5-8). The Mt. Herbert, PEI native tallied her first-career hat trick in a league-opening 5-0 win against St. Lawrence (10/28) and posted five multiple-point games, including two four-point outings.

Tiley backstopped Clarkson's strong opening to the season, playing every game, including nine starts. The native of Owen Sound, ONT, played in eight games where she allowed only one goal-or-less, including three shutouts. She recorded a 4-1 mark in road games with only road loss coming in the season-opener when she played the final 20 minutes of 5-3 defeat at St. Lawrence (10/3), allowing only one goal. She came back to shut out the Saints behind 19 saves in 5-0 win (10/28) at Cheel Arena in ECAC Hockey opener.
